The Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) Program
The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is designed for applicants who have at least 1 year’s skilled experience to apply for PR if they obtain adequate points under the CRS system. Such skilled experience must be in the Government-designated categories of professional, managerial, and technical jobs. Express Entry creates a pool of qualified skilled workers who are ranked according to a points system – ‘Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)’ – and then invited to submit their application if their aggregate point meets the cut-off score as set in the draws.
The candidate is required to gather certain documents at various stages of the Express Entry application process. Information from these sources is used to build up the candidate’s Express Entry and include, among other things:
How The Point System Is Defined
All prospective applicants must pass a preliminary point system which seeks to assess individuals’ chances of succeeding in Canada. This system is based on a possible total of 100 points across a grid of 6 different areas (Education, Language Skills, Work Experience, Age, Arranged Employment, Adaptability). To qualify under the FSW program, the applicant must achieve a ‘passing score’ of at least 67, as has been currently set.
Filling Out The Online Form
All candidates under the FSW program are required to apply only through the Express Entry system which requires them to create an online profile, assigns them to respective scores in the pool. They must then wait to be invited before they can submit the application.
